This is the best episode ever in Answer Me 1994. I don’t know what happened, but all of a sudden, I had all my wishes fulfilled in this one single episode. See, drama? You can do this! Just keep on doing everything just like this episode, and I would have no complains at all.
This episode’s topic is taking things for granted, and is to remind all of us not to take relationships for granted. We have to constantly express our hearts so that the relationship can stay strong. In this case, the episode focused on presents.
Chil Bong is finally getting his fair share of screen time with Na Jeong, and Trash continues to be as awesome as he already is. The drama did tease us with the ‘Who’s The Husband?’ bit again, by showing the wedding clip, without the groom’s face and also when Sook Sook gave the handphone to the bro-in-law. And yes, Sook Sook is her younger brother. I don’t know why people are making a fuss on Sook Sook in the first place, but oh well. You got your answer people.
Now let’s talk about this awesome episode.
Episode 6 started off with present time, 2013, and Chil Bong and Na Jeong sitting at the dining table talking about Sook Sook. Their conversation doesn’t sound like a stranger’s conversation – and it might also sound like a married couple’s conversation. Then again, this drama does a lot of teasing – so no hopes up. They’re just naturally close.
So back in 1994.
Trash is playing catch with Chil Bong, when Coach comes and joins in. He tells Chil Bong to throw without giving a chance and Chil Bong really did. Coach says that he needs to try harder, and he turns around and walks to Trash. Turns out that Coach is just putting on a strong front, and that it really hurt. Hah.
And we have Trash looking over at Chil Bong in a weird way. Mmm. Is he trying to be like a big brother and considering Chil Bong as Na Jeong’s husband candidate? Or he knows that Chil Bong likes Na Jeong?
Na Jeong asks around if they say her back brace, as she thinks she lost it again. Chil Bong offers her his, and says that it’s a good one. He says that their team doctor usually massage them as well. His words captured Na Jeong’s attention, and she stares at him before pretending that she’s in utter pain and needs that massage. Hahaha!
Chil Bong agreed and helped to massage Na Jeong, and things got a little awkward… *squeee* They then continued being awkward as Chil Bong continued with the last step of the massage.
Mom and Dad are in a room, and Mom orders Dad around, like make the fan rotate, change tv channels, close the tv and switch on the radio, to turning on the tv again. Dad was pissed, and Mom apologises, which instantly made Dad felt bad. Trash suspects that Mom is suffering from menopause and will be having a hard time.
Na Jeong is listening to music outside, and Trash came and massage her shoulders which sent Na Jeong to being tensed again. He plugs one of the earpiece to listen what she was listening to. He tells Na Jeong that her mother is going to have a hard time and to pay more attention to her. Na Jeong asks how he would know that Mom is having menopause. Trash answers that he knows female hearts well, very well. Uh Oh….does that means that he already know that Na Jeong carries a torch for him?
I didn’t know the kids hang out together at school? This was the nice surprise drama had for me in this episode. The kids hang out together during lunch and talk about Haitai’s girlfriend issue.
It seems that Haitai had a fight with his girlfriend. The reason? Because he couldn’t understand women. This is a typical problem in relationships, and it’s VERY COMMON. I know men would find it ridiculous, but women would really want someone who knows what they’re trying to say, even if it’s not in a direct way. So Haitai made a bet that Chil Bong and Trash would answer just like they did.
The question was that – If Na Jeong just painted her room, and if she closes the door it gives her a headache because of the smell. If she leaves it open, the exhaust smoke will come in. So should she open or close the door. All the guys answered either open or close the door and the girls look at them like they’re idiots. The answer is actually – to ask if she’s okay and needs to go to the hospital. Hah!
They all looked at Trash and waits for his answer…and he goes… “you have to open the door”. AHAHAHAHAHAHA. The guys laughed and says it is exactly what they expected of him.
They went on and asked Chil Bong and everybody is awaiting his answer. He goes…”Isn’t it better to close it?” and the boys rejoice. After which, he looked and Na Jeong and asked, “But are you okay?” BINGO. *claps*
And the boys looked on in disbelief and Yoon Jin mentioned that Seoul guys are definitely different. Hahahaha.
The kids started to play a game, wanting to make Yoon Jin and Sam Chun Po make up and stop arguing.
Na Jeong and Haitai kept looking at Yoon Jin and Sam Chun Po’s stick so that they could make them kiss, but the two of them kept drinking instead of following the ‘King’ order. They played till late at night, and everyone is either drunk or sleepy.
Since Yoon Jin and Sam Chun Po fell asleep, they decided to quickly end the game.
They all agree to play the last round, and this time it is Chil Bong’s and Na Jeong’s number. Everyone is tired and sleepy and Chil Bong looks over at Na Jeong, nervous. He decides to give it a go.
Trash speaks to Dad that he needs to care more for Mom, as menopause is a sudden thing which women experiences and is considered a big deal.
Dad and Mom have a heartfelt conversation, and it was sweet.
However, when they went to the doctor, it turned out that she was actually pregnant (Sook Sook), and it’s actually the same day as their dead son’s birthday, so it was a precious gift, more so than a miracle.
Haitai also breaks up with his girlfriend, and we have Na Jeong narrating, that sometimes when you become insensitive, even a gift cannot repair the relationship any more. So it’s best to give gifts before relationship starts to wither.
THOUGHTS & DISCUSSION
I really loved this episode a lot. There are so many things to talk about – and I hope that the drama continues to be just as awesome as this episode.
I like the fact that we finally see the group of kids bonding together – having lunch together. That’s what I wanted to see! And it feels so awesome to see Chil Bong crushing on Na Jeong, and Trash Oppa realising that. Binggrae’s got a crush of his own, and though I don’t really like the fact that they have another gay guy in the group, but oh well.
Next week’s preview looked good, and Na Jeong seems to be nervous around Chil Bong – which is a good start because she views him as a man. We also have Haitai and Yoon Jin, so maybe we can have more couples 🙂
Okay drama, keep on this way, and I’m officially on this drama’s boat. Now that the love arrows has started shooting from right and left, let the game begin 🙂
