I absolutely love this sitcom, and I just can’t get enough of it. I can’t do a recap for it, or a discussion for each episode because it’s slated for ~120 episodes. I can’t commit to that. However, I can do special shout-out for it from time to time occasionally. I honestly think that this is a great sitcom, and is good for laugh – and manages to be sweet as well. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for something light, and easy for a fun watch.
The last k-sitcom I ever watch was Unstoppable Marriage – which I picked up because of FT Island’s Lee Jaejin, but I didn’t even manage to watch more than 10 episodes, because it was really difficult to find the videos, and subs was only up till episode 5 or 7? At that point of time, I didn’t understand much Korean. I got better by the years. Thankfully though, Potato Star 2013QR3 is subbed 🙂 Even if the subs stop coming, I can understand Korean better now.
For this special shout-out, I’ll give a brief run-through on the different unique characters the sitcom has.
That’s Hongberg (Yeo Jin Goo), Na Jin Ah (Ha Yun Soo) and her mother Gil Sun Ja. Hongberg is a name Jin Ah comes up with for him, and he lives next door to them. He’s actually homeless – he is just living in an empty house. He shits and eats at Jin Ah’s house, and constantly argue with Jin Ah. He’s actually a mysterious dude – because no one knows anything about him.
No Min Hyuk. He is the CEO, and is full of confidence of himself. He comes across as arrogant – without wanting to be. He likes to boast about himself and doesn’t realised that people hate him for that. Hah. However, he deserves the spot he has. He loses his memory after a fall – and is so charming as he likes the presence of Na Jin Ah. One thing though, his arrogance doesn’t change. Hah. It’s cute in a way.
Noh Soo Young. The Noh Family’s youngest daughter. She is super fickle minded. She dates Julien Kang and brings him back from the states, only to tell him to go back to the states the minute they reach Korea. Hah. She breaks up with him and dates a poor musician whose reaction to everything is one beat slower than normal people. It’s hilarious to see.
Noh Bo Young and her kids. Noh Bo Young is probably the female version of Min Hyuk. She’s smart and a quick thinker. Her husband cannot lie without her finding out. Her kids are adorable and hilarious! The kids once out-speak her in aliens and stuff and she spent days learning about the topic diligently so that she could reason with her kids. Heol.
The Noh Family’s mother and father. The mother is constantly arguing with the grandfather – and she is the one controlling the household. The father does not have any power in making decisions and is constantly being scolded as he can never make up his mind. He is constantly hesitating.
Those are just some of the characters – there are other characters as well who add colour to the show, but if I were to list down everything, this post will be so long. Hehehe.
I just simply love this sitcom to bits – and I don’t know about romance, but both Hongberg and No Min Hyuk are fun to watch and I don’t mind who Na Jin Ah will end up with. Right now, I think Hongberg has the upper hand. He’s just so sweet at times 🙂
Watch this people! It’s great humour and lots of fun!
