Alright. Episode 3 of One Warm Word is a little meek compared to the first two episodes, but the last 10 minutes was strong and awesome. I don’t know which OTP we’re supposed to be rooting for, but I’m actually hoping that Sung Soo and Eun Jin stays married. Sung Soo might have an affair previously, and the way he speaks might be a little rough at times, but he’s nice and sincere which makes me like him a lot.
Jae Hak, however, kinds of puts me off. I don’t know why he’s ice-cold towards Mi Kyung, and I can’t understand it either. They must have loved each other to get married right? Unless you’re telling me that Mi Kyung plotted to get married with Jae Hak, which I don’t think so. Mi Kyung strives for perfection in her life – which might make people around her tired and frustrated, but dude, you married her! Mi Kyung honestly is a good daughter-in-law. Jae Hak’s mother is difficult to please, and Mi Kyung always maintains her composure and does her duties well. Jae Hak has no right to blame Mi Kyung for spying on him. If anything, he should have felt guilty towards her.
I’m not going to do a recap, just some screenshots and a short summary of certain scenes. And, in future, I will not be doing recaps for One Warm Word as well, and just do short discussions or summaries, like this.
First all all, Jae Hak sent his car for repair, and he tells his secretary to let him know if they find anything strange in his car and he takes out the memory card from his car’s black box.
Sung Soo bought flowers for Eun Jin’s mother, but she berates him for not knowing her taste. He is annoyed at everyone picking on his past affair, and he kneels in front of Eun Jin’s mother to apologise for everything which is not to her liking, which makes her even more angry. Surprisingly for Sung Soo, Eun Jin stood up for him and starts scolding her mother instead and saying that she was in the wrong too, and that there are things which only the couple knows themselves. As they left, Sung Soo told Eun Jin that she went too far arguing with her mother. Brownie points for this guy.
Sung Soo switches on the radio and a familiar song plays, and both of them recognizes it. Sung Soo tells Eun Jin that it was the song when they had their first kiss, and Eun Jin pretends that she doesn’t remember. They went on and talk about love and changing after marriage, and Sung Soo tells Eun Jin that she always tries to make love something which can be seen or touch. Eun Jin says that their romance ended when they got married, and why do they have to stay in a marriage when there is no love. Sung Soo argues that it is natural to lose the romance, but people still stay married – because of the time they spent, the kids and the parents.
Sung Soo holds Eun Jin’s hand and is happy when she doesn’t reject him. Eun Jin notices him smiling to himself, and he tells her the reason. She tries to pull her hand away, but he tells her that it’s not easy for him to hold hands with her, so they should just continue walking. Sung Soo pulls Eun Jin to the side and tries to kiss her. Eun Jin tells him that people in the neighbourhood might see, but Sung Soo argues that they are married and not having any romance is a sin itself. He tries to kiss her, but she looks away. Sung Soo tells her not to reject him as it will be embarrassing and he tries to kiss her again, and she no longer rejects him.
A customer is unhappy with Eun Young over two won (something like 2 cents?), and Min Soo comes over and apologises to the customer. He sent the customer off with a gift as a form of apology, and Eun Young starts commenting once the customer turn his back. Min Soo tells her that the customer will hear, and she argues that she doesn’t care if he hears. Min Soo calls her a hypocrite for talking behind others back but not saying it to their face. She starts arguing, and Min Soo calls the customer and tells him that she has something to say. Eun Young quickly bows and smile. Eun Young continues to defend herself, and Min Soo tells her that people who work here are people who have good qualifications (good studies/certs), and her behaviour makes people suspicious if she has those qualifications. Hah. Eun Young is pissed off and comments that the world is getting better since a guard is able to speak to a full-time employee, and while walking, she accidentally trips. Min Soo saves her by preventing her from hitting the floor, and she clearly…is flustered. Hah 🙂
Mi Kyung meets up with Eun Jin and thinks to herself that she never thought people who have affairs are normal people like Eun Jin. Eun Jin gives Mi Kyung a bracelet as a token, and Mi Kyung asks if something good happened. Eun Jin started crying, which surprised Mi Kyung, and Eun Jin says she’s at rock bottom right now but she still have to live like normal. Mi Kyung doesn’t say anything to Eun Jin about the affair. As they left the restaurant, Eun Jin notices the bracelet, and Mi Kyung says it’s from her husband for their wedding anniversary. When Eun Jin left, Mi Kyung thinks to herself that she can’t help it but to hate Eun Jin.
Sung Soo visits Eun Jin’s mother with a box of abalone which is Mom’s preference and they speak to each other like normal again. Sung Soo tells Mom not to take Eun Jin’s word to heart, and that he will do better from now on. Mom totally loves him!
Eun Young goes for dinner with her brother, Jin Chul, and bumps into Min Soo who is working there also. Min Soo asks if Jin Chul is her boyfriend, and Jin Chul puts her arm over Eun Young and tells him yes. Min Soo says that the restaurant is not taking any more orders as there are no more ingredients, he tells them to come any day when they have a date again. Eun Young is annoyed that her brother pretended to be her boyfriend, and he tells her that he’s doing it for her because he doesn’t want others to think badly of her for not having a boyfriend. Hah.
Eun Jin is shopping, and she senses that there is someone following her. The “stalker” got caught when he accidentally breaks another’s person stuff and there is a commotion. Eun Jin gets a good look at his face, and realizes he was following her all along. She panics and starts to run off, and he follows behind. Eun Jin stops at the car park and she blows a whistle, which caught everyone’s attention around them. She turns and face him, and tells him that everyone is looking and that there is a camera as well. She tells him that if he runs away he will get caught – and Eun Jin asks him why is he following her.
Meanwhile, Jae Hak opens his black box video, and he hears Mi Kyung’s voice. He is shocked, when he finds out that Mi Kyung is aware of the affair. He questions Mi Kyung if it was her who put a tail on him. He stares at her and asks her again, and Mi Kyung is pissed that Jae Hak is blaming her.Mi Kyung pushes everything on his table, starts screaming, messing up his room and breaking stuff. Jae Hak is shocked and holds her telling her to be quiet as his mother will hear. Jae Hak mentions that he didn’t knew she had this side of her. That pisses off Mi Kyung more, and she tells him that she didn’t knew she had it either. She scolds him for making her show an ugly side of her.Mi Kyung loses control and starts crying and calling for her mom.
THOUGHTS & DISCUSSION
I totally understand Mi Kyung’s hatred for Eun Jin and her frustration with Jae Hak, and honestly speaking, I like her character. Even though she’s probably going to be a nasty character from this episode onwards, we can totally relate why she goes to the extreme.
I really don’t know why Jae Hak treats her that way, you know? I know she’s wrong for spying on him, tracking his location and causing an accident with Eun Jin, but he has totally no rights to be angry with her. He had an affair, and he cares more for his mother than for his wife. Mi Kyung treats his mother well, despite his mother being difficult all the time, and he should at least appreciate her for that and not treat her so coldly.
As for Eun Jin, I don’t know how she feels like. I feel like she hasn’t gotten over Jae Hak, but she still loves Sung Soo, though she herself doesn’t think so. I don’t know. Sung Soo is winning my heart seriously. He’s sincere and nice, even though sometimes the way he speaks might be a little rough. I really want them to stay married!
Eun Young has already developed an interest in Min Soo! Hahahaha! Anyway, why does Min Soo have two jobs? Min Soo seems smart, but why is he working as a guard and part-timer at a restaurant? I know he’s living with Mi Kyung, but I’m sure he could have had a better job….so why? Hmmmmm……
Anyway, from the next episode onwards, we’ll see the transformation of Mi Kyung, and I’m excited 🙂
