One Warm Word is not a drama where it catches your attention at one go, and BAM! it’s awesome. It’s more of a drama which slowly builds your interest as you keep watching. I like it how the drama continues to throw in small mysteries which keeps us in suspense, and yet that same mystery is quickly solved within the next episode, or slightly later. Then the drama throws in another mystery.
Besides the suspense we get from watching, it’s nice to see how two completely different families handle their problems. It’s heart-warming, and sweet on one side, while the other side is cold and brutal.
THOUGHTS & DISCUSSION
Min Soo DID IT?! Mi Kyung finds out that Min Soo was aware of the affair all along, and that Mi Kyung was crying in secret. She remembers about Eun Jin’s hit and run accident and suspects Min Soo. Min Soo never outright admitted it, but when Mi Kyung questioned him, he says that he doesn’t want to make excuses. What is that supposed to mean?
First of all, we know that Min Soo did put a tail on Eun Jin. Min Soo admitted that he wanted Eun Jin to leave Jae Hak and that was the right thing. However, he never admitted or denied that he ordered the hit and run. The notes that Eun Jin received might be from Min Soo, and the accident might be him also. But we never know…maybe drama call pull another trick and it might turn out that it’s not him either.
Whatever it is – Min Soo as a character is very engaging and interesting. While all the other characters are rather straight-forward, Min Soo is the only character that I can’t figure out and that’s a good thing. I thought that Mi Kyung would have been the one who is unpredictable, but actually she’s not. We can tell that she puts on a calm front yet hides an extreme personality inside of her.
As for Min Soo, he’s warm-hearted and honest – but at the same time, he hides a dark side of him, which is part of the mystery. I don’t know if he really likes Mi Kyung more than sibling love, or how far would he go to protect her. He can be a character as simple as anyone else. Someone who loves and is thankful to Mi Kyung, and wants to protect her as a brother.
Or he can be character I’m thinking – Someone who loves and is thankful to Mi Kyung, has a hidden crush on her, and will do everything to protect Mi Kyung even if it means endangering himself. He mentioned to Mi Kyung that he doesn’t change what he likes and something along the lines of – that if it wasn’t for her, he wouldn’t be here. It might be a hint that he has liked her before, and maybe he hasn’t change yet. This version of Min Soo is more dark, because both of them share the same father. Unless you’re telling me that Min Soo is Mi Kyung’s father mistress’s child from a different man – which is unlikely.
But Min Soo and Eun Young are a potential couple! I love their exchanges and how he always wins the arguments against her! The only thing which is bothering me is – Is all of these a planned act on Min Soo’s part? Or is this coincidence which will be our future heartbreak?
If this was a planned act – it means that Min Soo is a much more dark and extreme character than we thought. However, I’m going for the coincidence route. Let’s just say that he has a crush on Mi Kyung, but slowly he’ll fall for Eun Young and that’s when he starts to think of Mi Kyung as a sister. However, things will get messy when he finds out that she is Eun Jin’s sister. I mean, this will most probably happen right?
They can also go for the planned act route – and he tries to win Eun Young’s heart and hurt her just like how Eun Jin hurt Mi Kyung, but he starts to fall for her. However, I find this a little too extreme. I mean, we still have to love the guy right? If he’s all dark and twisted – I don’t think he’ll gain points from us and he might just end up in jail or something.
It’s so funny to see Eun Young trying to get Min Soo to date her! This was totally cute! She’s drunk and tells him that she waited for him to be alone so that he can walk her home. Hah. Though reluctant at first, he agrees to walk her home. She falls back on the chair and makes a puppy face asking him to piggy back her, and Min Soo hilariously tells her to stop trying to seduce him. She gets up and pretends to fall on him, and he tells her to just walk.
She asks why he decided to walk her back and if it’s because she’s pitiful. He mentions something like feeding a stray cat is part of life at times. She questions him if he thinks she’s a stray cat, and Min Soo says that stray cats are cute. LOL.
Okay, now we’ve talked about Min Soo, let’s move on!
I love it at how Sung Soo and Eun Jin are trying to change for the better. Sung Soo made a decision to move on, without opening the door to Eun Jin’s heart as it’s in the past and Eun Jin too is trying to get along with Sung Soo. Yoon Jung is such an adorable kid and when she tells Sung Soo at how afraid she was that Eun Jin and him will get divorced was totally sweet. It makes us aware at how kids know more than what adults think – and they have feelings too. It’s wrong to disregard their feelings, you know?
However, even though Sung Soo decided not to listen about the past, he’s still curious. It’s human nature. And it’s also in human nature that when we start a lie, we continue lying to cover up the initial lie. Even though, their relationship is slowly mending, all it takes is for that lie to be discovered and everything will fall apart again. That’s why, relationships shouldn’t begin with a lie.
However, if Sung Soo had opened the door to Eun Jin’s heart, we wouldn’t have this sweet moment of mending right now.
As for Mi Kyung and Jae Hak’s side, I feel so sad for Mi Kyung – because honestly, I think at least 50% of all the women on Earth is like her. She may be suffocating and controlling, but she does everything she’s supposed to. Putting a tail on her husband? I bet a lot of women would too if their husbands strayed, and if they had the money. I have no idea why Jae Hak is so righteous about anyway. All Mi Kyung wants is for Jae Hak to give her a little bit of affection, but Jae Hak is always treating her coldly.
Does he not know that his mother is always stressing Mi Kyung out? He knows, but he closes one eye to it, with an excuse that he does his best to not stress her out and does everything she tells him to. Look boy, she doesn’t need a robot for a husband. She wants a husband. She wants to be loved for.
I loved the moment when Min Soo walked in the midst of Jae Hak’s mother scolding Mi Kyung. He did everything what Jae Hak should have been doing as a husband. And when Min Soo told Jae Hak that no matter what Mi Kyung did, it’s only right for Jae Hak to actually bring Mi Kyung to her room first in this situation as she’s drunk instead of asking him. That look on Jae Hak’s face – is it him realising that he was cold towards her all these while? That Min Soo was right?
Alright, that’s for these two episodes 🙂 Shall look forward for the next episodes 🙂
