POV DISCUSSION: Beyond The Clouds (First Half Review)

I was looking through my posts, and I realized I never posted anything about Beyond The Clouds (Full Sun) after my first review of it so I decided to post one 🙂

Just so you know, I am currently diligently watching it, and it’s one of my favourites right now. The characters are interesting, and both Yoon Kye Sang & Cho Jin Woong are just killing it on screen.

10 episodes have aired so far, and I think it’s slated for 16 episodes~ I’m just so curious about the ending, but before that, let’s talk a bit about the characters~

Yoon Kye Sang is being so awesome as Se Ro, and his character struggles with his own emotions throughout. He grew up being labelled as a thief’s son, got accused of a crime he didn’t commit, and his dreams were shattered. He started a revenge, but fell in love with Young Won and is struggling to manage his emotions.

I think the show wrote the character Se Ro really well. The first few episodes, we know that Se Ro was originally a nice, and kind person. Someone who had dreams and lived honestly. He changed drastically after being framed for a crime he didn’t do and when his father died.

We then see a more reckless Se Ro, who bets everything on revenge, and doesn’t care about anyone else. When Se Ro finds out that Young Won is innocent, he felt guilty and now he wants to stop everything. After falling in love with Young Won, it felt like we see a glimpse of the real Se Ro again – the Se Ro who was once kind, and warm.

However how long will this last?

Cho Jin Woong is playing Kang Jae so well – and I actually like his character a lot. I find his character the most complex out of everyone’s else. So basically he’s a con-man, a hyung to Se Ro, and someone who was close to Se Ro’s dad. He cons people – for profit, but he’s not exactly evil.

It’s hard to put on a label on him, because his character and actions are really complex. He feels guilty about Se Ro’s dad’s death – and even though technically Se Ro’s dad didn’t die because of Kang Jae – ultimately it was greed which landed all of them in this mess.

As to why Kang Jae took part in Se Ro’s revenge plan – was it just due to guilt? was it money? was it just a brotherly support? I think it’s all three. Kang Jae isn’t a kind and warm guy like Se Ro, he’s jaded – but he’s not evil.

I feel really bad for Kang Jae, because it seems like no one understands him and no one is standing by his side. Se Ro wants the revenge to stop, but Kang Jae can’t stop it because they used a lot of money for all of these scams. Jae In is always on Se Ro’s side. However, Kang Jae’s not the type of person who will explain out his actions – he admits openly he’s bad and he will take money, but we all know that he’s really not that bad.

Anyway, right now I’m not sure if Kang Jae will join hands with Han Tae Oh – but even if he does, I think he’s planning something bigger and maybe his actions to get Se Ro and Jae In out of everything is a way to protect them? I don’t know – but I just don’t think he’s going to turn on Se Ro’s back and do things together with Han Tae Oh.

Honestly, I don’t care how the companies turn out – but I just want Kang Jae, Se Ro, Young Won, Jae In & Young Joon to all be happy and Han Tae Oh to be in jail.

On a side note, Young Joon is being an awesome step brother 🙂

Drama, please don’t give me a sad ending. Me want happy ending~!
