SPECIAL POST: Cunning Single Lady & Seo Kang Joon

I’m back with a special post on Cunning Single Lady, to focus on Seo Kang Joon, because I just can’t get enough of him. Hah.

Honestly, the first two episodes were great, but the 3rd & 4th episode kind of lost me, so I stopped watching for a while, and I only resumed watching the rest of the episodes today. It’s safe to say that yes, I’m still sticking with it. The 3rd & 4th episode was a little too boring, and too dramatic for me to actually like it.

There was too much time spent on ‘fantasy’ scenes which kind of took away precious time which could show us the plot better. Anyway, glad that from episode 5 onwards, it seems like the drama is still alright, and pretty decent to watch so I’m sticking with it.

And each time I watch, I can’t take my eyes of Seo Kang Joon🙂

So far, things in the drama are moving along – Both Cha Jung Woo & Na Ae Ra definitely still like each other a lot, and both hold a grudge against each other. It’s funny how Jung Woo keep insisting to Ae Ra that he no longer wants her, but every time she’s around he tries to act tough, and say words to insist his stance.

It just proves that he wants to appear strong, and as though he doesn’t need her – but in the end, those actions mean that he is still bothered by her presence and is still mindful of her.

I like it how both Jung Woo and Ae Ra interact with each other, they fight and argue – but they still care about one another, and are comfortable around each other.

We also find out that indeed Ae Ra did have a miscarriage back then, and most probably Jung Woo isn’t aware of it. Jung Woo has been blaming Ae Ra all these while for their divorce and looks at her in a bad light, but once he finds out that what he did to her was much worse than what she did to him, he will probably start to feel guilty.

Okay, let’s put all of that aside, the purpose of this post is to appreciate how awesome Seo Kang Joon is. HAHA! I really like him as an actor ever since I watched ‘After School Bokbulbok’, and has been keeping a close eye on his projects ever since. Besides being good-looking, I think he has a pretty strong screen presence and he’s too cute for anyone to miss.

I love the way Seung Hyun looks at Ae Ra, and every time he does that, I get a mental breakdown.

vlcsnap-2014-03-22-19h48m26s149vlcsnap-2014-03-22-19h48m27s162And when Seung Hyun and the rest arrives at Jung Woo’s dad’s funeral, he is surprised to see Ae Ra there. The girls think that she’s there to gain points with Jung Woo – and Seung Hyun is left confused when Ae Ra doesn’t have anything to say.

It was a moment that only they understood, where both of them are just thankful to the other.

I wonder when will he find out – and what he will do once he knows? I mean it’s going to be really awkward to like the girl your ‘hyung’ was once married to. But still, I just want to see him trying to win Ae Ra’s heart (though we all know she and Jung Woo will be together). I want Jung Woo to be jealous, that a such a cute, hot and young guy is chasing Ae Ra. AHAHAHA.

  1. sooo. I love him, too and was waiting to watch something he was in after Suspicious Housekeeper and the After School:Lucky or Not. However, the entire premise of this show just rubs me the wrong way as much as I like the actors in the lead roles. I am getting really tired of these “people who get divorced are just being silly and really love each other only they need to talk and have trauma so they realize what they have” plots. Is the show worth it enough to watch him? I mean we all know he is going to get his heart broken, right?

    • AHAHA!!! Actually, I agree to that – and the drama plot doesn’t really hook me at all – and yes, 99% of the reason I’m watching is solely just for him. AHAHAHAHA. The other 1% goes to the story?

And yup, he’ll be heart-broken, but that’s okay~ because I want to see him improving as an actor so maybe that’s part of the reason it’s worth it for me🙂

  2. SH is such a young punk. He has no idea what a real relationship entails as is demonstrated by his cotten candy popcorn school boy crush. More mature than JW, give me a break, to what extent. He’s never been party in a relationship as convoluted as JW and AR. His bravado stances against his co-workers is just plain out funny, they have no effect which is why the hazing continues. He is lovesick because he doesn’t understand that AR is a real woman with real life experiences that would probably drown him in a sea of sorry. His honesty is suspect, since he is so honesty and offer AR what she needs, why hasnt he privately confessed to her who he is and his relationship with the CEO and the Director. Let just admit his role in this show is only to serve as a stimulus for JW and AR.
His mommy and daddy issues are apparent in his behaviors towards AR. Protecting his mother against his father’s wrath, because of pity, now he is translating his capacity to express pity into a crush. Ha Ha Ha. He and his sister are eager to bring added tension to a relationship that has its own bouts of discombobulation, real problems. Why should either JW or AR be burdened in trying to fix other people problems when fixing their own requires all of their strength.

    • Woah there. Chill. I think you got a serious hate for Seo Kang Joon or something?

Look here Bukk – no one said SH is more mature compared to JW? And yes, his love for AR is more of like a crush-kind of thing – but how is that wrong? Come on, these are characters and they reflect real humans. Even when a high school kid has a crush, they take those feelings seriously, because at that point of time, they are serious.

And I’m just spazzing on my love for the ACTOR SEO KANG JOON. He’s an actor I adore, and I don’t see what’s the big deal?

Maybe you hate the fact that I’m saying the story is not my kind of thing – but hey, everyone have their own preferences of what they like to watch. I’m watching this solely because of SKJ and that’s my choice.

And just a word of advice – why don’t you start watching dramas and not get too deep into the characters? I sense a lot of hate going on – and really, just chill. It’s just a drama. There’s no need to get so frustrated over such stuff, right?

  3. How about a word of advice for you. Let me enjoy the drama the way I want to and you continue to present your comments as you choose. I have no hate for fictional characters, if I did it would be fictional hate. You have failed at sensing any hate from me. I*don’t like the character in the show but I find him an essential part of the story-telling.

Go ahead and spazz on your idol, I agree that you should if that’s what you prefer, why attempt chastise me for having opposing opinion? Neither of our opinions will influence the outcome of the show. I thought you were doing a fine job of expressing your sentiments which is why I was motivated to respond, not as an attack but just presenting my opinion.

I find you attempt to give me advice on how to watch a show offensive, is not my prerogative to enjoy as I choose. I hope you will continue to give your interesting insights with your biases, they make reading them fun.

And, I’m sure my observations are as valid as yours. Peace!
