Alright~ a new revenge melodrama, Golden Cross has aired the first two episodes – and I’m solely watching it for Kim Kang Woo, Lee Si Young & Uhm Ki Joon 🙂 I’m not really in a mood for yet another revenge melo, but since I like the all of those 3 lead actors, I shall just check it out~
The first two episodes explained what the story is going to be about, so we all know what’s coming, and what happened, who the evil people are, and who’s the good one around. There might be twists in later episodes, but that’s for later, and I don’t know either.
Personally, I didn’t like the first two episode. It was too messy, and it felt like the drama is trying too hard to capture viewer’s attention.
BRIEF SUMMARY EP 1 – 2
The first episode started by showing us this scene, and the rest of the episode and episode 2 is a flashback of what happened before this incident.
Okay – let me explain.
Ha Yoon wanted to be an actress, and was convinced that she is going for an audition – however, it turns out that her so-called audition is to sleep with Seo Dong Ha. And the people who ‘casted’ her for that so-called audition is none other than, Michael Jang (Uhm Ki Joon) and Hong So Ra. Michael Jang is on bad terms with Seo Dong Ha, and it seems like he is planning something by using Ha Yoon – but we don’t know what it is yet.
Seo Dong Ha, and some other evils were plotting to sell the bank and they made Kang Joo Won do the dirty deed of manipulating some data, which the latter did for money. Kang Joo Wan changed his mind, and wanted to reveal the truth – but of course things won’t go as planned.
Our female lead, Seo Yi Re (Lee Si Young) is a detective and has a complicated relationship with her mother. One would think that they are not blood related – but nope, they are actual mother and daughter, and it seems like she is not the biological daughter of Seo Dong Ha.
However, Seo Yi Re is very close to her father, Seo Dong Ha – and we all know that this is why the drama is a revenge melo, right?
THOUGHTS & DISCUSSION
I didn’t like the way the first two episodes were directed. It was very messy – and I just didn’t like it.
Their main point is just to show us that Ha Yoon died, and Do Yoon’s dad is in for murder, so he’s probably going to find out who killed his sister and framed his dad, and he falls in love with the murderer’s daughter (which might not be his biological daughter).
I thought the first two episodes could have been lumped into one episode, or rather they shouldn’t have shown us the murder at the start of episode 1.
I mean – if they show us the murder at the start, even without the actually murderer’s face, we ALL would know that her dad couldn’t possible murder his own daughter, no matter what his daughter would have done.
So basically, everything in the middle which happened – wasn’t that important to me. I know Do Yoon’s dad was framed, I know Ha Yoon died – so I don’t really care what happened in between. All I care about is what Do Yoon is going to do.
They shouldn’t have done the flashback thing – that’s my opinion. Things would be more interesting if I didn’t know what will eventually happen. However, I think it’s done to capture viewer’s attention so that they will actually tune in and watch the drama.
Anyway, putting that aside – Uhm Ki Joon is evilllll. OMG. Ahahahaha. I find his character Michael Jang interesting already, and I don’t know if he’s actually evil or not, but whatever it is, he was the one who plotted to use Ha Yoon, and that’s enough reason for Do Yoon to chase him down, besides the actual murderer.
I’ll still watch the drama obviously – the first two episodes were boring, but I’m expecting better stuff to come, now that the storyline is all good to go.
Oh, and can I just complain that why Do Yoon and Ye Ri know each other, and we don’t know. Tsk. It would be more fun if we knew…and if their relationship wasn’t something already being established.
Last thing – if only Do Yoon and his mother didn’t pester his dad all the time, his dad would never have manipulated the data for money.
