I was feeling quite empty after finishing off Marriage Not Dating and High School King Of Savvy, and then I remembered about Plus Nine Boys, which replaced MND. I’ve watched the first two episodes, and I love it 🙂
It’s not the normal ‘fluffy’ kind of rom-com. I thought it had a good balance of humor, but more of a heart. Does that makes sense? Hahaha. I don’t really know how to put it in words – but it gives off a warm feeling after watching, and I like it a lot.
The best part about it is that we have four guys (3 brothers, 1 is their uncle) – all ten years apart in age, and the ‘fortune teller’ said that there will be a good relationship this fall, and it’s a rare relationship where they won’t let go of each other. Just one.
JUST ONE?! I know we can put the kid aside, as it’s probably not him. I’m not placing my bets on 19 year old Kang Min Goo either. It’s either Kang Jin Goo or Goo Kwang Soo. NOOOOOO. I want both of them to be able to find their love though~
No recaps – just a brief summary, with some screencaps. Thoughts & Discussion right at the end of the post~
EPISODE 1 & 2
Kang Jin Goo (29) and Ma Se Young are friends who work in the same tour company. They know each other from way back, and are comfortable with one another.
Her scarf falls, and he offers to do it for her. Their eyes meet and he asked her if her heart is pounding.
And of course, she doesn’t buy his flirting.
First meet the mother. She believes in superstitions, and went to see a fortune teller – who told her that all of the four guys are ‘Plus 9’ and they have to be extra careful in this year, especially Jin Goo.
She bought talisman from him and send them via chat to her sons, and her brother and tells them to save it as their screensaver. Side Note: Now talisman no longer need to be in paper form. Hahahaha. But seriously? Screensaver???
Of course, none of them bothered and they deleted it right away.
The youngest in the family is Kang Dong Goo (9) – who was a popular child star, but find himself no longer as popular as he once was. He has the celebrity disease, thinking that he’s all that awesome, and I think that it’s going to be a painful experience for him, as people are starting to laugh at him.
Okay let’s move on –
The next day, which was valentine, he received chocolates from her (with no special meaning) – and he hesitates at the bus stop after she left. He runs after her…And is surprised to see her with Jae Bum.OUCH.
From here, I’ll just post screencaps.
THOUGHTS AND DISCUSSION
Okay – yes, sorry for the lazy post. Anyway, pictures are better than words 🙂 Okay, that’s just an excuse. I don’t have time to write out everything, and as much as I would love to do recaps for this, I can’t make any commitments yet. I barely have enough time each week to finish watching the dramas on my watching list.
First of all – let’s look on the bright side. The fortune teller said, only one good relationship this fall. There’s four seasons in a year, so maybe someone else can do it on another season? Hahaha – but this will surely be fun, guessing which one of the three will be the one. I don’t think it would be Min Goo, so it’s either Jin Goo or Kwang Soo.
And besides the love part – I think there’s a lot of other stuff the drama would offer, like maybe life lessons – which are not so obvious.
For example, 9 year old Dong Goo is being laughed at for having a different face after growing up, and because he cannot act. He has the celebrity disease from being so popular at a young age – and though it will hurt, I do want to see his character breaking down and then slowly enjoying himself as a kid, and then growing as an actor, without being arrogant.
I don’t really have much to say about Min Goo right now, except that I find him a little similar to Seo In Guk. Not sure if it’s the face, or the character.
Kwang Soo is demoted to do a program, which is failing, and he hates it – and I am hoping that they will slowly make his character grow, by actually adapting to his new program, and actually finding good things about it. It seems like he ‘looks down’ on it, and I want his character to learn that even though it’s a failing program, there is probably that one viewer who likes watching it.
And lastly – I love Kim Young Kwang 🙂 AHAHAHA. Jin Goo is such a cute character – he’s the typical flirty playboy, who smiles at every girl and is friendly to everyone – but he has Se Young in his heart. He is too afraid of confessing – and when he thought Jae Bum was dating Se Young, it must have hurt a lot. Things start to look a little brighter though, since he find out that they are not dating – but Jae Bum did confessed to her and got rejected.
It just means more heartbreak for us because three good friends are going to be involved in a love triangle, and I don’t want that beautiful friendship they have to be ruined 😦
That’s about it.
Shall be excited for episode 3 and hope that the drama does meet my expectations. I think I gave it a lot of credit, and I do have a lot of expectations for it, because it seems like it could be really nice.
