POV DISCUSSION: Healer Episode 1 – 6

My King is back!!!!! Okay – I really love this. It’s not exactly what I expected, but I love this. Honestly, I wasn’t even excited about Healer premiering and was just watching it to see what it’s really about, but the episodes flew by and I’m just hooked.

It’s not exactly a  mind-blowing solid awesome drama, but there is really something special about it. It makes me feel all jelly, fuzzy and warm inside.

I think the casts were well chosen, and the story is pretty interesting itself – but for me, the main draw is actually the characters and the casts.

Ji Chang Wook and Park Min Young fitted into their roles seamlessly, and I can’t imagine anyone else playing the roles. It’s probably the best work I’ve actually seen them in individually.

We get to see Ji Chang Wook as the intelligent Healer, and also the newbie ‘reporter’ who is afraid of everything. I think it’s really fun seeing him switching between these roles, and trying to hide his identity as the Healer.

The character itself is intriguing enough. His dream is to earn enough money, buy an island of his own and live there. SAY WHAT?

His dad died when he was young, and his mom left him. Probably left a huge scar on him, but he still meets with his mom from time to time (?) I suppose and he doesn’t seem to hate or blame her.

As for Park Min Young. Her character is really fun to watch. She just jumps in every situation, even dangerous ones – and I simply love how she constantly wants to protect Ji Chang Wook, thinking he can’t do anything. It’s funny, but really cute to see. I also love how she tries to talk her way out when arguing with her boss. In short – I like the character a lot.

vlcsnap-2014-12-27-08h05m51s63vlcsnap-2014-12-27-08h06m06s210Anyway, everyone in the story seems to be connected to each other. Healer was trained by his father’s ex-friend. Ahjumma is actually a detective. But the main issue is this – his dad killed his friend for money and committed suicide. And most likely that friend is probably Young Shin’s real dad.

I don’t think his dad actually killed Young Shin’s dad – but that ‘fact’ alone is enough to separate our leads 😦  Somehow, it feels like the culprit is Kim Moon Shik. However, we still need more clues and time to figure this complicating friendship.

And it’s a good thing we have such a cute OTP 🙂

vlcsnap-2014-12-27-07h39m20s24vlcsnap-2014-12-27-07h39m30s117vlcsnap-2014-12-27-07h39m32s139vlcsnap-2014-12-27-07h39m33s154And them talking on the phone like friends – and I’m like screaming inside because this is just so sweet. Young Shin is like telling him about her longtime crush on Kim Moon Ho and he’s just listening.

vlcsnap-2014-12-27-07h39m56s125vlcsnap-2014-12-27-07h40m05s211And the biggest suprise is she telling him that she recently had another crush, and he’s a night courier. Obviously it’s Healer – but she doesn’t know it’s him, and it’s just funny how he finds out that she is actually attracted to him. Not sure how he’ll take that though, because after all, he is the guy who wanted to live on his own island.

He’s already starting to worry about her anyway, and I just can’t wait to see more of his character’s development 🙂

Okay that pretty sums up everything. I really like the drama so far, and I’m expecting better things to come – hopefully drama doesn’t messes up, and more OTP moments >.<

I don’t know what Ji Chang Wook has eaten but he just became more charming and handsome and I just love seeing him here. AHAHAHAHAHAHA. Sorry – don’t mind my fangirl feels.

  1. wanted to start this drama but I heard from others that it is similar to City Hunter (even tho alot of ppl raved about CH. I never got into it). Would you recommend Healer or Punch? I’m debating about which one I should watch.

    1. Hmmmm…. I wouldn’t say it’s similar to city hunter, and I don’t find it similar at all, so I’m not sure why they’re saying it’s similar. Maybe just one or two points which is similar, but the whole story flow and characters is completely different.

First of all I find Healer characters very endearing and so far, the pace is consistent and it’s nice to watch how the male lead slowly changes from being anti-social and to learning how to communicate with others.

hmmm… but if you’re asking me whether you should watch Punch or Healer….. can’t you watch both? AHAHAHA.

Punch is about politics and prosecutors, and Healer is about finding the truth behind the leads real parents and the history.

But both drama have very strong and interesting characters, yet I’m still wary of what’s to come for both dramas story-wise, and if the drama will mess up in the 2nd half.

Though I’m hoping it will not happen for either drama, I’m still a little wary, and will not be able to recommend either one strongly for you.

Probably only after both dramas finish airing, then can I let you know which is a better pick.

But for now, if you’re looking for something more fast-paced and more conflicts before the sweet moments, it’s Punch. If you want something more sweet and cute before it unfolds into conflicts, it’s Healer.

    2. Very different from City Hunter! I absolutely loved CH, and this one I love as well. However, I feel that they are very different. Both do have more or less orphaned male leads and the whole fighting against society kind of thing, but that’s about it. As with all things there’s bond to be similarities within the same genre, but there are still many differences. Give it a go!

  2. I think I had enough of politics and prosecutors. I watched Pride and Prejudice until episode 10.. but I dropped it.. the drama kept dragging. The only drama I’m watching right now is Pinocchio. I would like to watch both but I won’t have that much time for drama watching since my break is over soon :(. I will try Healer haha. Thanks for the rec

    1. I felt the same way about Pride and Prejudice. I stopped after watching episode 10. I lost all interest. Healer seems promising though so far. 🙂
