This drama just gets better and better! I loved the latest two episodes and had a good laugh throughout. Of course, we finally have proper clues dropping slowly, though the family history is still a big question mark. Oh – and there was a good amount of tension too in the two episodes!
Even though I miss Do Hyun, I’m glad that Se Gi is back and I wish he stays longer, so that we can see him and Ri Jin interacting🙂 I want both Do Hyun and Se Gi to spent equal amount of time with Ri Jin, you know?
As usual, not a recap – just screencaps and a bit of discussion here and there.
EPISODE 9 & 10
After the kiss, it’s so funny seeing how both Ri Jin and Do Hyun trying to calm themselves down. The drama is always spot-on when it tries to be funny – because it’s really funny. Ri Jin hoped that Do Hyun didn’t remember what happened, but Do Hyun said it was him, and he remembered everything. And I didn’t expected this slapstick. Hahahahaha. And Do Hyun’s little smile at the end >.<
Do Hyun keeps looking at Ri Jin while she eats, and is happy being with Ri Jin. We hear his voice-over saying to Se Gi, that as long as he doesn’t take away his time and appear in front of this person (Ri Jin), he is willing to be Se Gi alter ego in the next life. Just don’t take away this love from him.
That’s a direct confession – to us, that he loves Ri Jin.
But that was the sweet fun part – before we had kind of a tension-filled moment when Ri On revealed himself as Omega to Do Hyun. Do Hyun is shocked, probably uncomfortable as well because Ri On knew Do Hyun’s identity from the start, yet called him Perry Park. In fact, there is a lot about Do Hyun which Ri On knows.
Ri On reveals his true personality behind his facade, and he is pretty scary. Not exactly in a bad way, but the vibe Ri On usually gives is friendly and welcoming, but this time, it seems cold and direct? Not sure how to put it in words.
As Do Hyun walks away, Ri On asked, “Is Ri Jin doing well?”
Do Hyun is surprised that Ri On knows. “Let me meet with Ri Jin, that’s the 3rd condition.”
As Ri On drives back, he remembers that he plays a part in bringing Ri Jin and Do Hyun together. The coincidence at the airport, at home, encouraging her to stay as a doctor, and telling her that she can always come back. Of course, it’s not really his fault, because even without him in the picture, Ri Jin would still have meet Do Hyun.
Ri Jin came back to see Do Hyun having a nightmare and accompanied to stay beside him. However, it took her a few seconds to realize when the person wakes up, it’s no longer Do Hyun, but Se Gi. Se Gi screams at her, asking why is she here – on Cha Do Hyun’s bed.
Se Gi is angry, and asks Ri Jin if she plans on killing him. Ri Jin tries to calm him down, saying that she doesn’t have that capabilities and that she is just there to mediate between the two. Se Gi says that Ri Jin completely fell for Do Hyun and didn’t know that Do Hyun is not as innocent as she thinks.
Se Gi changes clothes and tells Ri Jin that because Do Hyun broke the rule, he is going to make a mess out of Do Hyun’s life, so much that even if Do Hyun comes back, he won’t be able to clean up the mess. Ri Jin, hilariously tries to hold on to him.
Ri Jin manages to get out with Secretary Ahn’s help, and she goes over to Chae Yun’s house. Se Gi refuses to tell her what he did, and just like her, I’m frustrated too – because well, everyone is curious about what he did too. Hahahaha. I guess we’ll find out in later episodes.
Se Gi went to the office and held a meeting, before being dragged out by Ri Jin and Secretary Ahn. And when Ri Jin touched Se Gi, he gets her hands off him again with the same saying not to touch him. And Ri Jin, irritated, kept touching him and asked what he’s going to do about it. AND THEY STARTED BICKERING AND IT WAS SO CHILDISH, BUT HILARIOUS AND CUTE. Until of course Secretary Ahn stops them and remind them that they are in an office.
Se Gi mentions that Shin Hwa Ran (his mother) is putting on a mask – and says that she was a witness to an assault but kept quiet and even used that to stay in the household. Ri Jin wonders if Do Hyun was assaulted when he was young.
Se Gi tells Ri Jin that Do Hyun is never coming back – because the seal to his memory is opened, and he won’t be able to stand the pain. Ri Jin says he can, and Se Gi screams that he can’t – that’s why he and the rest were created. To take the pain on Do Hyun’s behalf – and if Do Hyun can handle the pain, it means they all would die.
Ri On knows that he’s not Do Hyun, and says that he is taking away Ri Jin as a brother. Se Gi smirks and says that if he continue pretending to care like a brother, with a man’s eye, he is going to pull out his eyes.
Se Gi tells his grandmother to hand over the group to him, and mentions on how she told him a long time back to live quietly. Grandmother is shocked that he remembers what happened – and Se Gi asks if she is still obsessing over her son, and purposely drops his picture on the floor.
THOUGHTS & DISCUSSION
Both episodes are awesome – and I continue to love on how the writer managed to hit all the right spots. When it was meant to be funny, it’s hilarious to the point you can’t stop laughing – and when it’s time to be anxious, we’re anxious.
I loved that Se Gi returned for the episode, and I hope he stays on longer. The character Se Gi is just as complex as Do Hyun, maybe even slightly more complex since he hold the memories which Do Hyun can’t remember – and I love seeing his character on screen.
He may seem rough, rude and hot-tempered, but that same guy is actually someone who can actually be sweet too. We can tell he really loves Ri Jin, given the way he treats her.Like for example, him pulling her up when she fall (though it was kind of funny), or him listening to her at times (the car), or the way he dragged Ri Jin to the car after the meeting with his mother.
It may look rough, but when he pushed Ri Jin into the car, he actually had his hand on the car to prevent Ri Jin from hitting her head. It was a small detail – but it points to his character.
Even when Ri Jin kept asking if she was a part of his memory, he doesn’t tell her, because he doesn’t want her to be hurt. And when he realized what Ri On said was true, he looked really upset that he can’t rebut and looks like he was about to cry.
There was just a range of emotions we can see from Se Gi in this episode. He doesn’t want to die – and the way he tells Ri Jin on how they all would die, was just sad in a way. But he’s not exactly evil, because we also see him trying to call Do Hyun out – to come out if he wants or hide forever if he still can’t handle it.
Anyway – we also get to see Ri On in his actual self, and I don’t find it over-reacting on his part to get angry. I thought he acted like a real oppa, even though we know how he feels about her. Any actual brother would react the same way.
Oh and – I think I went overboard with the whole mystery previously. It seems much simpler than what I imagined. Hahahaha. It’s a good thing though.
We know for sure that Ri Jin is the adopted child in the basement and that Ri On parents believe him only to be a good brother to Ri Jin, nothing more.
But there was a scene with Se Gi which kind of bothered me. When he was inside the office, with a picture of his supposed grandfather, he greeted him like this, “Hello, father. No, president Cha Geon Ho.” And when he visited his supposed father, he said “Hello Cha Joon Pyo. No, I’ll just call you father.”
Wait. Is Do Hyun’s real father Cha Geon Ho? But how is that possible if his birth mom is Shin Hwa Ran? Was there a baby switch which happened somewhere???
What if… Ri Jin is really Shin Hwa Ran’s child – but she swapped her child with a random male baby (Do Hyun), who unknown to her is really actually Cha Geon Ho’s hidden son?
Okay, maybe going overboard again with the theories. AHAHAHAHA. But damnnnn it’s weird.
I think that’s about all. I hope Se Gi stays on for one or two more episodes. I want him to fight Ki Joon for Do Hyun, because it’s so fun and hilarious.
Not just him, I hope that the other personalities would come out longer as well in future episodes, especially Perry Park!
