New dramas! I started Doctors without much expectation but sadly the drama still doesn’t feel like the right fit for me at the moment.
I do like the casts – especially Kim Rae Won but the first two episodes didn’t manage to pull me in. In fact, I was actually bored watching midway the first episode.
It’s not as bad as it may sound – it’s decent enough, but too cliche of a story. It probably needs more engaging plot down the road to at least be memorable.
THOUGHTS & DISCUSSION
I’m totally not trying to be mean or to act smart – or anything like that. Honestly, there are a lot of medical dramas out there but only a few stood out.
And if Doctors is going to involve a lot of political fight over hospital ownership and also the usual fights where a more powerful individual blocks the good surgeons from doing surgery – I’ll probably drop this.
I’ve watched so many of that – I’m really not interested to watch another one. I love medical dramas but I absolutely hate those boring politics which does nothing helpful to the plot.
Hospital story aside – the romance.
I think it’s going to be hard to pull the romance off?
It’s just my opinion but after watching the first two episodes, I cannot really picture Ji Hong and Hye Jung actually in a romantic relationship. However this opinion can change as episodes goes by and hopefully it does change.
What I did like about the drama so far is Kim Rae Won. He’s just awesome, you know? Even if the drama turns out to bore me, I might just sit through for him. Hah.
I like Lee Sung Kyung but why did the drama made her into such a petty lady 😦 It would be hard to love her character if she continues to be mean. It’s really too early for female rivalry. I wished they had stay friends longer.
Another negative point for me – because I don’t really like predictable evil 2nd female leads. I hope she has a reason behind her personality though. I want to love the characters!
Last but not least Park Shin Hye. I’m happy that she took on a different role from her previous roles. I love that her character can throw punches and wants to change for the better. Her character’s good.
However, it might just be me, but I feel that Park Shin Hye is a little conscious of the camera while acting. She’s been acting for years – and she’s not a bad actress in anyway. In fact I do think she’s good.
It’s just that maybe because it’s her first time being a rebellious student, her facial expressions look awkward in certain scenes. It feels almost forced. Well, to me that is.
Don’t get me wrong! I don’t have anything personal against her. It’s just what I feel from watching the drama. Certain scenes like she rolling her eyes, or when she speaks – it feels unnatural. Not smooth enough to pull the rebellious student role.
This is of course just my own personal opinion and feelings.
So overall, nothing much to say about the story at this point of time. If it wasn’t Kim Rae Won and Park Shin Hye headlining this drama, I probably would have dropped it after these two episodes. But because it’s both of them, I will keep watching!
Hopefully the story gets better 🙂
