K-MOVIE REVIEW: Monster

vlcsnap-2014-07-09-00h53m35s203

Finally, today I decided to catch up with movies instead of dramas – and I decided to watch Monster which stars Lee Min Ki and Kim Go Eun. From the initial synopsis, I thought that this was going to be a revenge drama, and I’ll see Lee Min Ki’s character and Kim Go Eun’s character fighting it out.

Sadly though, it’s far from what I expected and though not exactly a bad film – it was sort of weird, in a way. A little bit of sadist? I don’t know how to put it in words. Honestly, it was disappointing because I expected more, but the story plot doesn’t deliver and that upsets me a little.

It started off pretty alright, a little bit creepy – with a slight touch of comedy. However, somewhere along, the whole movie started to feel weird and I don’t even know if I’m actually watching a revenge killer film or not.

K-MOVIES REVIEW: Part 1

vlcsnap-2014-04-21-02h22m40s250

Alright, I’ve watched a couple of movies over the past few weeks, and I couldn’t decide if I wanted to actually post about them. Honestly, maybe it’s because I’m so used to watching dramas, movies tend to be a little bit boring for me because it’s too short and there isn’t much content.

So instead of doing individual reviews on each dramas, I would just lump a few movies together, and just do a short simple review on them. For this post itself, I will be reviewing on Steal My Heart, Friend The Great Legacy & Hot Young Bloods.

K-MOVIE REVIEW: Hwayi, The Boy Who Swallowed A Monster

vlcsnap-2013-12-18-13h33m38s45

This movie is AWESOME. Anyone who can’t take movies with a lot of blood involved should totally stay away. This movie includes crude language and violence.

I just finished watching Hwayi: The Boy Who Swallowed A Monster, and I was glued to my seat for 2 hours because it’s THAT awesome. This movie is sleek and action-packed. Yeo Jin Goo was perfect, and I wonder what roles this boy can’t do.

Basically, the movie is about Yeo Jin Goo who was kidnapped when he was young and brought up by 5 criminals who were stuck with him after their plan went wrong. He was named Hwayi and he learnt various skills from the 5 people he calls Dad. However, after killing his first victim, he finds out a shocking truth regarding the man he killed & the men he grew up with.

I will not be doing a recap for the movie, but just a short discussion. SPOILERS AHEAD!

K-MOVIE Review: Killer Toon

vlcsnap-2013-09-08-08h50m00s34

Killer Toon is about a series of deaths which looked like suicide, but is eerily similar to a horror webtoon. A detective puts the writer as a suspect and tries to find out who is causing these deaths.

I have mixed feelings regarding this movie itself. The first half of the movie was great. It was creepy and for a moment I was confused to as to what genre does this movie really belong to. However, the ending of the movie doesn’t really do the first half justice. It was not as good as I thought it should be. In a simple way, the conclusion was rather weak. It’s acceptable, but weak in compared to the strong first half.

K-MOVIE Review: Running Man

vlcsnap-2013-08-25-15h20m53s173

I love this film. Crazy car chase, action scenes and heart-warming too.

Running Man stars Shin Ha Kyun as a father, who runaways when he was accused of murder. His relationship with his son is estranged, and it was sweet to see father and son coming together after all the misunderstandings. Shin Ha Kyun works as a driver, and picks up a strange man who offers him a lot of money to drive him here and there. However, upon reaching a certain destination, Shin Ha Kyun realized that the man was stabbed and died.

After which, he went to the police station to tell them he didn’t kill the man, but things got complicated and he ended up being on the run. He also realize that someone else is chasing him besides the police. Trying to uncover what was the thing the mysterious man sent him on his phone before he died, he has to runaway from the police, the NIS, and two other men.

His son doesn’t believe his father at first, and let the police know of his whereabouts. It’s only after he digs up a little bit here and there, before he realized that his father was innocent. Shin Ha Kyun tries to get his son to stop digging around, and in the midst of all that keep running all over the place. I swear he’s an expert in escaping. Lol.

The film is not too serious. It was funny, and full of cool scenes. I enjoyed it a lot. It’s perfect if you want to watch something light.

K-MOVIE Review: Cold Eyes / Stakeout

Cold Eyes/ Stakeout was pretty good in my opinion. I didn’t feel bored at any one point of the film. However, the value of the film was a little lacking though.

It is mainly about a group of police who is cracking down a case of robbery, which was well executed. There is a lot of undercover chasing, some cool actions moves, but there wasn’t much of a story. The story part was lacking. However, it was still a good watch because I kind of liked it.

I just wished that there was more exchanges between Han Hyo Joo and Joo Woo Sung. You know…? They could have fight it out for at least 5 minutes in the entire film, but we didn’t even get to see that. Sad. Joo Woo Sung was an expert killer in the film, and I think no one could have won against him, so the way he died was a little disappointing. It could have been done slightly better.

Don’t take me wrong. It’s really a nice film, and not boring at all. It’s just that…I could not find the point of the film.

Worth watching 🙂

K-MOVIE Review: Gifted Hands / Psychometry

Alright. I’ve watched the film Gifted Hands/Psychometry and I find it pretty interesting. It’s about a police officer coming across a graffiti on the wall, and he realized that it is the crime scene sometime later. It’s creepy and weird because the one who drew the graffiti is not the killer.

Basically, the film centres around kids being kidnapped and the police are running around trying to find the criminal. It is also a chase against time, as a new young kid was just kidnapped. Kim Bum, who plays as the person who have the ability to see the past upon touching anything, helps the police to catch the real criminal, of course not willingly. He hates his ability as his mother died because she was afraid of his ability.

The film is okay overall. It was interesting, but I would prefer it if there were more than just one case itself. It would have heighten the tension a little bit more.

There is a nice bromance, a little laugh and the ending was okay. If you’re bored one day, you can choose to watch the flim.

[K-MOVIE] Secretly Greatly Review

I’ve watched Secretly Greatly, the spy movie starring Kim Soo Hyun, Park Ki Woong & Lee Hyun Woo and I didn’t know if I should do a review, but I decided to.

I thought the film was hmmmm…. okay? I liked the starting, and the fighting scenes but the main problem I had with the movie was the plot. It just felt stupid that the mission was to kill yourself and it was made a little bit overly dramatic over suicide. I just can’t relate. I know that it might be applicable in reality, but on the screens, it felt…boring?

I don’t hate the movie, in fact I liked a lot of parts of it – I just couldn’t relate to the mission and the after effect.

I loved the fighting scenes, and the comedy in it – it was light-hearted and gripping. Those fighting moves could be used in a more action packed movie with a stronger plot. How sad.

Anyway, it’s worth a watch just for the sake of the three actors and the fighting scenes between them.

K-MOVIE: Passionate Goodbye (Rockin On Heaven’s Door)

vlcsnap-2013-06-29-14h26m40s28

Passionate Goodbye is one AWESOME movie. I’m so touched by it. It’s such a sad, yet beautiful film. *cries*

Passionate Goodbye is a movie about a top star who was sent to a hospice to volunteer after he caused trouble. There, he meets people who are all preparing for their last goodbyes.

I don’t know if I should do a recap for it, or just a review. Maybe I’ll do half-half? Not a full recap, but a short summary, with some screencaps and more of my own review.

Cha Tae Hyun & Mr Yang were accused of treason. During the torture, Mr Yang died. Cha Tae Hyun is released when his father strikes a deal with the evil Lord. Cha Tae Hyun realized that his father gave up his position and power for his release.

Oh Ji Ho was wrongly blamed of causing the deaths of ice-mining people. He was sent to exile.

Overall, I find this movie not so bad. I love sagueks, and this one is a pretty good movie for a saguek. It’s like a good snack before bedtime.
